Issue Position

People often ask me about my position on gun ownership. Here is my short answer.

I am a gun owner and have a lifetime permit from the State of Indiana to carry a concealed weapon. During my Senate career, I consistently voted to protect our Second Amendment rights. The concerns many of my friends have about the State of Indiana taking their guns away is completely unfounded. In the 12 years that I served in the Senate, I never saw a single piece of legislation introduced to restrict or deny gun ownership to Hoosiers. I support responsible people who own guns and promote safety courses as well.
